Sahara Anggelina Putri, a 15-year and 8 months old  student in the Vocational School’s 62nd batch of the Agricultural Production and Community Development Technology Study Program, is the youngest student at IPB University.

Sahara successfully passed the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) by placing IPB University as her first choice. She is a graduate of SMAN 1 Parakansalak, Sukabumi Regency.

Since childhood, Sahara has shown a keen interest in learning and outstanding academic abilities. She attended early childhood education (PAUD) for one year.

When she saw her friends starting elementary school (SD), Sahara insisted that she did not want to go to school again unless it was directly to SD. Although she was not yet 4 years old at the time, her parents still enrolled her with the status of “anak bawang” (young child).

“However, at that time, there was a teacher who saw that I was already able to read, write, and count. He encouraged me to be accepted as an official student,” she recalled, telling the story of her entry into elementary school.

This decision marked the beginning of Sahara’s journey to pursue education faster than other children her age. Now, Sahara’s journey continues at IPB University.

Her introduction to IPB University came from social media, coupled with strong encouragement from her family. “IPB University is one of the best universities in Indonesia. My family was also very supportive, so I was even more motivated to apply.”

“During the SNBP, my first and second choices were IPB University. Alhamdulillah, I am now accepted here,” she shared.

Despite being younger than her peers, Sahara does not feel inferior. She instead uses this age difference as motivation to keep growing. One way she does this is by maintaining consistency in her studies. Every night, she sets aside an hour for deep learning, reviewing the lessons she learned in class.

“Every night, I try to study for about an hour. That way, I can better understand the material while also training myself to think critically and deeply,” she said.

In addition to focusing on her studies, Sahara has also begun to plan for her future. She wants to use her time at IPB University to build a strong foundation, both academically and in practical skills.

“I want to find a job while continuing my education to a higher level. Hopefully, what I learn can be truly beneficial, not only for myself but also for society,” she said.

Sahara’s story inspires us that learning and achieving early on can be enjoyable. With a passion for learning, family support, and consistent discipline, she proves that great opportunities can be achieved faster than imagined.

In an era demanding speed and high competitiveness, Sahara’s journey is a tangible proof that hard work and determination can pave the way to a bright future. (AS) (IAAS/KDP)
