IPB University Student Team ‘MindsetNgedit’ Trains High School Students to Master Editing Skills
IPB University students from the IPB University Student Entrepreneurship Development Program (P2MW) community, MindsetNgedit, held two series of workshops on developing editing skills for high school and vocational school students.
The first workshop, titled “Learning to Edit Without Capital,” equipped participants with practical editing basics, how to start learning without significant costs, and technical tips for producing simple works.
Meanwhile, the second workshop, titled “How to Earn Money from Editing Skills,” focused on strategies for turning editing skills into income opportunities. The material covered real-life freelance experiences, how to build a portfolio, strategies for finding clients, and training in a creative business mindset.
The workshop attracted more than 30 students from 12 high schools/vocational schools in the Greater Jakarta area. The majority of participants came from vocational schools with majors related to multimedia and editing.
Their backgrounds varied. Most had never earned income from their editing skills, while others had already started trying their hand at freelancing.
The learning method was interactive, involving hands-on practice and experience sharing. Participants not only gained new knowledge but also had the opportunity to ask for advice and feedback on their work. As one participant said, “A good seminar for the future,” which reflects optimism about creative job opportunities in the field of editing.
Through this program, participants gained a new understanding of creative job prospects, increased digital literacy, and opened up entrepreneurial opportunities. In fact, this activity also provides an opportunity for students to join and collaborate further with the MindsetNgedit community in real practice as freelance editors.
According to the team’s accompanying lecturer, Herawati, M.Si., this activity is a tangible manifestation of the contribution of IPB University students in making a social impact. “This activity must continue to benefit others and open up job opportunities, especially for high school and vocational school graduates,” she said.
The P2MW MindsetNgedit team is committed to continuing to support the development of creative skills among the younger generation while opening up more job opportunities for high school and vocational school graduates in Indonesia. This initiative aligns with IPB Berdampak’s vision, which emphasizes empowering the younger generation, enhancing digital competitiveness, and fostering innovation based on creativity.
