IPB University has officially become the first university in Indonesia to implement an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based Talent Management program. This strategic step was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IPB University and ESQ, led by Ary Ginanjar, on Tuesday (9/16).

The Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria, said that the implementation of Talent Management is an important breakthrough in the era of Society 5.0. On the occasion of its 62nd anniversary, IPB University reaffirmed its commitment to continue innovating in preparing an excellent generation for Indonesia Emas 2045.

“IPB University is supported by Mr. Ary Ginanjar, who has prepared tools within the Talent Management framework, enabling us to guide the careers of students, lecturers, and educational staff based on the talents we have identified,” said Prof Arif.

He explained that the fundamental difference between conventional talent mapping and Talent Management is the use of AI. This technology enables the mapping process to be conducted more quickly, with high accuracy, and based on data.

According to Prof Arif, if IPB University and other universities have a good talent pool, then universities can prepare for Indonesia Emas 2045 more effectively. This is because the results of Talent Management are based on data, not just intuition or feelings alone.

“This model can help student development programs, address mental health issues, student grades, and student organizations. I hope that Talent Management can become a model that can be replicated in various universities in Indonesia,” he said.

This collaboration stems from a major problem faced by the education sector and the world of work in Indonesia, namely choosing the wrong major and job placement.

Based on data received by ESQ, 87 percent of students in Indonesia feel they have chosen the wrong major, while 74 percent of workers are in positions that do not match their talents. This situation has serious consequences, ranging from a loss of motivation to learn, decreased productivity, to high stress levels and the risk of dropping out.

ESQ founder Ary Ginanjar commended IPB University for being the first campus in Indonesia to implement AI-based talent management. He noted that this system addresses the challenges of education in the 5.0 era, where personalization is key. AI enables not only the mapping of competencies but also the interests and talents of students to ensure more targeted outcomes.

“This is no longer just the era of 5.0 reform, but the era of individualization and personalization with AI, where students are not only known for their skills and competencies, but also their interests and talents, making them a better match,” said Ary.

He also hopes that IPB University’s steps will serve as an example for other universities in Indonesia. “Congratulations to IPB for becoming a 5.0 campus and a pioneer of the talentism era in the future. It is no longer capitalism, but talentism that is the key to Indonesia Emas 2045,” he said. (*/Rz) (IAAS/HRD)
