IPB University has the honor of hosting the 2025 International Student Summit (ISS), an annual forum that brings together agriculture and environmental science students from around the world.

This event, which is usually held in Japan, is being held in Indonesia for the first time with direct support from Tokyo University of Agriculture. The event took place on September 3rd at the Andi Hakim Nasution Auditorium, IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor.

This year, ISS brought together 23 universities from 19 countries and 5 continents. The presence of students from diverse backgrounds made this forum an important space for exchanging ideas, research results, and building global networks.

IPB University Rector Prof Arif Satria emphasized that this event was a strategic moment for students to prepare themselves as future leaders in agriculture and the environment.

“What makes this forum special is the exchange of ideas and experiences among students from five continents. This is a golden opportunity for IPB University students to broaden their horizons while fostering academic relationships across countries,” he said.

Prof Arif noted that IPB University has maintained a long-standing close relationship with Tokyo University of Agriculture, both through ISS and student exchange programs as well as undergraduate and graduate studies.

“Student exchanges are very important for increasing international mobility. This is what we continue to encourage so that IPB University students have global networks and experiences,” he added.

Meanwhile, the President of Tokyo University of Agriculture, Prof Fumio Eguchi, appreciated IPB University’s success in hosting ISS 2025.

“We hope that students from 23 universities and 19 countries can exchange thoughts, ideas, and information to develop the world of agriculture, protect the environment, and contribute to the international community. This forum is an opportunity to broaden the horizons of the younger generation,” said Prof Eguchi.

He explained that the selection of IPB University as the host was not without reason. “IPB is one of the leading universities in Asia and the world, as well as a long-time partner of Tokyo University of Agriculture. IPB’s contribution in the field of agriculture is not only for Indonesia, but also for Asia and other countries. Therefore, we are confident that holding ISS at IPB will have a major impact on the development of international agriculture,” he said.

Furthermore, Prof Eguchi stressed the importance of global collaboration in developing knowledge related to food, the environment, and sustainability. According to him, IPB University’s focus on food and the environment is highly relevant to the challenges facing the world today.

“Food and health are the most fundamental factors in human life. I am confident that this collaboration will have a positive impact on future generations,” he explained.

Prof Eguchi also expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and close cooperation from Prof. Arif Satria and the entire academic community of IPB University. “With the full support of IPB University, ISS 2025 ran smoothly and became an international event that strengthened global collaboration in the field of agriculture,” he concluded.
