Number of New Students of IPB University in 2025 Increases 9 Percent
IPB University recorded an increase in the number of new students for the 2025 academic year by 9,09 percent compared to the previous year. This year, IPB University received as many as 8.573 new undergraduate and D4 students, up from 7.859 students in 2024.
According to the Director of Education Administration and New Student Admission of IPB University, Dr Utami Dyah Syafitri, this increase was influenced by several factors. Some of them are the addition of two new study programs (prodi) in the regular class, namely Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, each of which provides a quota of 70 students. “In addition to the addition of new study programs, the strategy of admitting new students is also evaluated,” she said when interviewed by the editorial team of IPB Today (8/6).
Dr Utami explained that this year IPB University increased the quota of admission through the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) for several study programs, from the previous average of 40 percent to vary between 40 to 45 percent.
“As a result, the registration rate in the SNBP pathway reached 99 percent and the National Selection Based on Test (SNBT) pathway amounted to 98 percent,” she explained.
The Independent pathway this year includes the Student Council Chairperson pathway, the Talent pathway, the Regional Envoy Scholarship (BUD) pathway, and the Independent Entrance Selection (SM) -IPB exam pathway. “We no longer focus on the number of applicants, but on students who have a high interest in IPB and have qualified academic abilities to study at IPB,” she said.
IPB University, sge continued, also opens pathways for SNBP eligible students who have not been accepted, as well as using Computer-Based Written Test (UTBK) scores with a minimum UTBK score that varies between study programs. Applicants in both pathways are required to take an online exam organized by IPB. “This strategy has proven to be effective because the registration rate has increased significantly and the quota fulfillment is maximum,” she added.
In addition, the presence of 13 International Classes also contributed to the increase in the number of students, including from abroad. According to Dr Utami, interest in International Classes continues to increase along with the increasing recognition of IPB University in the global arena.
Regarding the capacity of facilities and infrastructure, Dr Utami ensures that facilities such as classrooms and laboratories for biology, physics, and chemistry are currently still adequate to accommodate the increasing number of new students. (dh) (IAAS/ST)
