A Total of 60 Scientific Papers Related to Natural Resource and Environmental Management from Various Countries Became Policy Recommendations
The Doctoral Program in Natural Resource and Environmental Management (PSL), IPB University Graduate School held the 4th International Seminar on Natural Resources and Environmental Management (ISeNREM) in a hybrid format.
This international seminar produced 60 scientific papers in the field of natural resources and environmental management from various countries, which were designed to serve as policy recommendations for governments through policy briefs.
Chairman of the Doctoral Program in Natural Resources and Environmental Management at IPB University, Prof Widiatmaka, stated that the seminar aims to serve as a platform for scientific information exchange among experts from Indonesia and developed countries. Additionally, the event is expected to strengthen research networks and collaborations to seek comprehensive solutions to environmental issues.
“Through this seminar, we can discuss with experts from various countries how environmental management is implemented in developed countries such as Japan, Poland, and the United States,” he said.
The seminar featured speakers from five countries: Prof Koji Harashina (Iwate University, Japan), Prof Małgorzata Kosicka -Gębska (Warsaw University of Life Sciences, Poland), Dr Edy Hartulistiyoso (IPB University, Indonesia), Prof Yanchong Karen Zheng (MIT, United States), Prof Giulio De Leo (Stanford University, United States), and a representative from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia.
Key topics discussed include ecosystem-based approaches to food, energy, and water management; circular economy strategies for sustainable resource utilization; sustainable land-use planning; food security and resilience in the face of global climate change; and renewable energy innovations for the sustainability of rural and urban areas.
The scientific papers presented at the seminar are planned to be published in the IOP Proceedings, which are indexed in Scopus. Additionally, the event also served as an opportunity for young researchers to explore independent research opportunities in their respective countries. (*/Rz) (IAAS/ASY)
