IPB University has launched a new curriculum based on Outcome Based Education (OBE). This initiative aims to produce graduates who are agile, creative, and adaptive to change, while ensuring that graduate learning outcomes (CPL) align with future job needs.

IPB University’s Vice Rector for Education and Student Affairs, Prof Deni Noviana, stated that curriculum development must be grounded in national policies while also being responsive to current developments.

“The curriculum must be able to respond to the reality that over the next 50 years, our graduates will face new challenges,” said Prof Deni in his speech at the Kick-off Implementation and Simulation of the OBE System at the Faculty of Economics and Management’s Auditorium, IPB Dramaga Campus (7/28).

Therefore, he continued, curriculum design must not be detached from technological advancements, industry demands, and societal needs.

He added that there are three main components in the OBE-based curriculum: Outcome-based Curriculum, Outcome-based Learning and Teaching, and Outcome-based Assessment and Evaluation.

“These three aspects should be worked in harmony so that OBE does not remain merely a concept, but truly impacts the students,” explained Prof Deni.

IPB University’s Rector, Prof Arif Satria, stated that this breakthrough marks an important step in refining the 2020 Curriculum into the 2025 Curriculum.

“Alhamdulillah, on this occasion, we can gather for the soft launching of our new OBE-based curriculum. This is our strive to refine K2020 into K2025, as part of IPB University’s commitment to always respond to the dynamics of change,” he said via video tapping.

Furthermore, the Director of Educational Transformation and Learning Technology (DTPTP) of IPB University, Prof Yulin Lestari, explained that developing the OBE-based curriculum involves the integration of various important components, including implementation guides, guideline documents, and CPL mapping.

He explained that the success of OBE cannot be achieved instantly, but rather through a gradual process with the support of various parties. “There are two main aspects in OBE implementation, implementation guidelines and operational guidelines. All of these must be integrated well to achieve optimal results,” he said.

The OBE program at IPB University is now equipped with supporting documents that are ready for presentation during national and international accreditation processes. As a result, it is expected that there will be no more difficulties in the reaccreditation process, as the system has been built comprehensively.

“This system will be developed gradually to make it easier to understand and implement,”  he expressed. (dr)  (IAAS/EXC)
