IPB University Launches Four Outstanding Innovations in Varieties and Technology
IPB University once again demonstrated its commitment to innovation by hosting the Launching of Outstanding Research Result event. The event showcased the latest innovations in the fields of varieties and technology, held at the IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor (7/22).
The launch introduced four outstanding innovations, which are 1) IPB 11S Rice Variety; 2) Katineung Potato: An Outstanding Industrial-Type Potato Variety; 3) Air Quality Monitoring System (AQIMOS); and 4) D-Ruminansia IPB: Smart Microclimate Control System.
The Vice Rector For Research, Innovation And Agromaritime Development, Prof Ernan Rustiadi expressed his appreciation for the consistency of the Directorate of Research and Innovation at IPB University in launching outstanding research outcomes.
“Alhamdulillah, the Directorate of Research and Innovation has consistently carried out the launching of the latest research results that produce innovations,” he said.
Prof Ernan hopes that these innovations could soon be commercialized through IPB University’s Science and Technology Park (LKST).
“We are very proud of our innovators, and we hope these innovations will soon be bridged to the commercial and industrial world because they all have great potential to address societal needs,” he stated.
On the same occasion, IPB University’s Rector, Prof Arif Satria, stated that a country’s progress is closely tied to the Global Innovation Index, which aligns with increases in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita. “No developed country exists without innovation. It is impossible for a country to advance without innovation,” he said.
Prof Arif conveyed that IPB University has lecturers committed to producing outstanding innovations as a source of inspiration for Indonesia’s future. He emphasized that IPB University’s lecturers are characterized by three main qualities: integrity, innovation, and inspiration, which are summarized in the spirit of inspiring innovation with integrity.
He explained that integrity fosters trust, which then creates connections and collaboration. From this collaboration, innovation emerges, which in turn inspires more people. “Inspiration from one innovation spreads, driving more innovation, and ultimately creating a massive innovation movement,” said Prof Arif.
Prof Arif hopes that IPB University lecturers will continue to be inspired to create better and more impactful innovations. “If I am inspired to create something better than this, then other innovators will also be motivated to produce better work. This is where the spirit of healthy competition in creating added value comes in,” he said.
Furthermore, he emphasized the multiplier effect of innovation: society becomes more optimistic, many problems can be solved, and job opportunities open up widely. This, according to him, creates real economic benefits for society.
“May these four innovators become khoirunnaas, the best of people, for providing benefits that continue to flow. This is the essence of innovation as a manifestation of usefulness,” said Prof Arif. (dr) (IAAS/ANF)
