The Science and Technology Park (LKST) at IPB University is conducting a training program on Product Legality, Marketing Strategies, and Packaging Design and Technology. The aim is to enhance startups’ capacity in developing their businesses.

The training session was attended by 25 selected startups from the 2025 Business Incubation Program. Prof Erika, Chairperson of LKST IPB University, explained that in addition to running the business incubation program, the institution also targets tangible outcomes and impacts on the ground.

“We want these 25 startups to truly thrive in their respective business fields, leveraging all the knowledge and facilities available at LKST,” Prof. Erika stated during her opening remarks at the IPB International Convention Center (IICC) in Bogor on (7/10).

She also added that the key to developing startups lies in having a resilient spirit in the field and high creativity linked to business innovation. The success of these 25 startups this year, she continued, will open opportunities for increasing the number of participants in future programs.

Prof Rokhani Hasbullah, Vice Chairman of LKST for Business Incubation and Industrial Partnerships, stated that comprehensive mentoring is the key to the success of startup development.

“All aspects of the business, from products, human resources (HR), market access, to financing, need to be addressed in the mentoring process,” he explained.

He added that the challenges faced by startups are diverse. Some are still focused on product development, while others already have good products but face challenges in HR management.

“In fact, some startups face issues with access to financing institutions. Therefore, we provide comprehensive mentoring, starting with a needs assessment to identify the main challenges of each startup,” he said.

Prof Rokhani emphasized that in developing their businesses, startups must apply technology or innovation. The touch of innovation will shift the business from merely competing in the market to creating strong competitiveness.

“Without innovation, it will be difficult to compete. However, if they can demonstrate innovation and product excellence, a value proposition will emerge that enhances competitiveness,” he added.

With increased competitiveness, product marketing will improve. In fact, he noted, innovative products can be sold at higher prices because they have advantages recognized by consumers. “Consumers will be willing to spend more because they are satisfied with the product’s advantages,” he explained.

He explained that innovation can be applied across various aspects, from products, services, distribution or delivery, to marketing strategies. “We aim to encourage businesses to adopt technology to enhance the competitiveness of their products,” concluded Prof Rokhani. (AS) (IAAS/LAN)
