IPB University Rector Awarded for Innovative Leadership in Food Security and Nutrition
Rector of IPB University Prof Arif Satria received an award from the Indonesian Association of Nutrition and Food Experts (Pergizi Pangan), for his leadership in encouraging and developing innovations in the fields of food and nutrition, village strengthening, and food security. The award was received at the opening of the 28th World Congress on Clinical Nutrition (WCCN) 2025.
According to Prof Arif, this award is an important marker for IPB University to continue to take a strategic role in the development of Indonesia’s human quality, especially towards 2045.
“Because we know that 2045 has become a necessity. For that, we need strong human capital. One of the components of strong human capital is from the health and nutrition aspects,” said Prof Arif on Thursday (5/29) at the IPB International Convention Center (IICC), Bogor.
He said that IPB University has currently reached 6.675 villages throughout Indonesia and continues to strive to build rural communities through various programs. These programs include technological innovations for food products, as well as innovations in the field and health.
Moreover, Prof Arif said, IPB University also has a Faculty of Medicine, Department of Community Nutrition, and International Research Institute of Food, Nutrition, and Health which are strong and experienced in efforts to empower and develop rural communities, especially through nutrition and health-based approaches.
“Therefore, God willing, IPB University with various parties including Pergizi Pangan, Bogor City Government, and also with various provinces in Indonesia will always move together in building human quality for Indonesia,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Pergizi Pangan Prof Hardinsyah said, Prof Arif deserved the award because he saw various innovations and motivations that continued to be encouraged in the field of food and nutrition.
“Moreover, IPB University has jumped its international ranking achievements from year to year,” said Prof Hardin.
It is known, based on the QS World University Rankings by Subject Agriculture and Forestry 2025, IPB University is ranked 49th in the world in the field. This ranking also places IPB University as the best in ASEAN and 10th in Asia.
This achievement confirms IPB University’s position as one of the world’s leading institutions in the development of agricultural and forestry sciences, as well as its real contribution to food security and sustainable development, both at the national and global levels.
Besides Prof Arif, Mayor of Bogor Dedie A Rachim also received an award from Pergizi Pangan for his leadership and innovative programs related to food and nutrition, especially Gema Stunting, the development of Science and Creative City 2045, which mobilizes the community in creating innovative solutions, empowering women, and assisting the elderly.
