Director of Strategic Studies and Academic Reputation (DKSRA) IPB University, Prof Anuraga Jayanegara, explained that this achievement was inseparable from the strategies implemented by DKSRA.
Some of these strategies include domestic and foreign collaborative research funding, publication cost assistance, scientific writing training through workshops, manuscript coaching, Publicamp programs, and English quality improvement by native speakers.
“We make this effort to strengthen IPB University’s academic reputation at the international level. However, challenges remain, such as maintaining the novelty of research, the availability of fast and secure journal servers, and increasing the capacity of human resources managing journals,” he said.
Prof Anuraga also revealed other steps to improve the quality of scientific articles so that journals can continue to survive in the Scopus index. Among these are updating research laboratory instruments and establishing collaborations with influential authors who have a high H-index.
“We also continue to build the confidence of the academic community in writing and publishing scientific papers in reputable international journals,” he continued.
In terms of publication quantity, IPB University also recorded a significant increase. Based on data until December 2023, IPB University was ranked 8th out of 10 universities in Indonesia with a total of 1.783 publications. In December 2024, IPB University’s position rose to 6th place with 2.573 publications, or an increase of 44,3 percent in a year.
Furthermore, based on Scimago Journal and Country Rank data (scimagojr.com), Indonesia currently ranks first in Southeast Asia/ASEAN in the number of scientific publications in the last five years, ahead of Malaysia and Singapore.
This achievement, said Prof Anuraga, shows the commitment of IPB University in encouraging the quality and quantity of scientific publications as part of the contribution to the development of science and Indonesia’s academic reputation in the global arena. (dh) (IAAS/KDP)
