Fahutan IPB University and Sinar Wijaya Group Collaborate to Develop Sustainable Forest Management
The Faculty of Forestry and Environment (Fahutan) at IPB University has established a strategic partnership with Sinar Wijaya Group (SWG) through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA).
This collaboration aims to strengthen synergy between the academic world and the industrial sector in sustainable forest management.
The Dean of Fahutan IPB University, Prof Naresworo Nugroho, stated that this collaboration is a concrete step in bridging the practical needs of the industry with the development of forestry science and technology.
“We hope this collaboration can serve as a productive and sustainable partnership model,” he said during the MoA signing ceremony recently.
The signing of the MoA marks the commitment of both parties to develop close cooperation in the three pillars of higher education, particularly in forest management and forest products in the Forest Utilization Business Permit (PBPH) area managed by SWG.
“Through this MoA, we are determined to jointly create constructive synergy that can have a positive impact on forest management in Indonesia, particularly in areas managed by SWG,” Prof Naresworo said.
The scope of the cooperation includes forest resource management planning, particularly regarding the regulation of natural forest stands, planning for the potential of multi-purpose environmental service utilization, and the management of biodiversity and high conservation value areas.
Additionally, the collaboration also involves the development and application of forest product processing technologies, both timber and non-timber, as well as the utilization of Tri Dharma outcomes relevant to the needs of both parties.
Ir Muhammad Jasin, Director of the Legal Division at SWG, welcomed this collaboration as a form of the company’s commitment to supporting forest management based on science and sustainability principles.
Sinar Wijaya Group is a national private company established in 2002. Currently, SWG oversees several companies engaged in forest management and wood processing industries located in the Papua and West Papua regions.
With a commitment to sustainability principles, the company manages forests sustainably and produces high-quality wood products, such as plywood and woodworking, that meet international standards. (*/Rz) (IAAS/KDP)
