Educational assistance in the form of Indonesia Smart Card (KIP) Lecture has a positive impact on students, including IPB University students.

Aditya Putra, a 4th semester student of the Faculty of Forestry and Environment (Fahutan) IPB University from Brebes Regency, Central Java, revealed how helpful he was with the KIP Lecture scholarship.

He explained that the KIP Lecture assistance greatly eases the burden, especially for scheme one recipients. This is because his parents do not need to worry too much about living expenses while studying in Bogor. Everything has been covered by KIP Lecture.

“For our batch, there are at least two scholarship schemes. The first scheme provides living expenses and single tuition fee (UKT) assistance. Meanwhile, the second scheme only covers tuition assistance. Alhamdulillah, the benefits of KIP Lecture are felt,” he explained.

Aditya said that the monthly allowance of Rp 1.100.000 really helped him to fulfill his needs while in Bogor. Moreover, in his first year, he got the facility to live in the IPB Student Dormitory.

Furthermore, he added, “During the first year in the dormitory, we were not allowed to bring cooking utensils. With this one million one hundred thousand rupiah, the needs of a month’s life are very much fulfilled.”

Apart from financial aid, Aditya also takes advantage of various food aid programs available on campus. Among them he mentions Warung Kita and the Free Fruit and Milk program.

“These food assistance programs are very helpful, especially for friends who can’t cook. Last year, I ate at Warung Kita almost every day because it was more affordable. For ten thousand rupiah, we got a complete meal,” he said.

“In addition, we also get fruit and milk from the Directorate of Student Affairs (Ditmawa) and can pick them up behind the Andi Hakim Nasution (AHN) Auditorium. All of this is very helpful for us,” he added.

M Danu Ardayana, a 4th semester IPB University student from the Department of Geophysics and Meteorology, who came from Leuwiliang, Bogor Regency, expressed his gratitude for the KIP Lecture assistance and the lecture environment at IPB University.

Danu explained that in the KIP Lecture program there are several distributions of funds. “For Bogor, students receive 1,1 million rupiah every month. In my opinion, this nominal is very sufficient for the cost of living in Bogor,” he said.

He shared his experience of staying at a boarding house for Rp500 thousand and still having Rp600 thousand left over. “With that 600 thousand I can actually eat three times a day. But, I always cook myself,” said Danu.

Danu also compared his experience studying at IPB University and his friend who studied at another university. “I feel that studying at IPB University is more comfortable than other universities that are often colored by UKT issues or other student life problems,” Danu said.

“While studying at IPB University, I am very grateful because there are so many programs that really help me to survive here,” he said.

Just like Aditya, Danu also often takes advantage of the many assistance programs available on campus. In addition to the Free Fruit and Milk program, he also often participates in free breakfast every Tuesday and Wednesday at Al-Hurriyyah Mosque while attending studies, as well as food distribution from the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) and Fahutan.

“So, the point is we have to be active. Don’t be lazy to seek and get information,” he said. (AS) (IAAS/NRA)
