Prof Iskandar Z Siregar, Vice Rector for Global Connectivity, Collaboration, and Alumni Relation led the commemoration ceremony of National Education Day (Hardiknas) 2025 at the Rectorate Field, IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor (5/2).

As the master of ceremonies, Prof Iskandar read out the speech of the Indonesian Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mendiktisaintek), Brian Yuliarto. The message called for the importance of collaboration from various parties to realize quality and equitable education throughout Indonesia.

In the message, the Mendiksaintek called education the solution to the problems faced today.

The world today, he said, is grappling with various wicked problems such as climate crisis, economic inequality, digital revolution, crisis of social trust, and disruption due to artificial intelligence. Facing these challenges, education is seen as a fundamental and strategic answer.

“Education is not just a place of learning, it is the heart of civilization. It is the space where the mind, character, and future of the nation are shaped,” Prof Iskandar said, reading the Mendiksaintek’s letter.

More clearly, education cannot be realized individually. The government needs community support, schools need synergy with families, and campuses must be closely connected with businesses and communities. Therefore, collaboration is the key.

In the text of his speech, the Mendiksaintek expressed his commitment to continue strengthening the education sector through concrete policies that are relevant and right on target. He realized that education is the nation’s long-term investment.

“Good education is education with impact and education transformation cannot be delayed,” he said.

“Education today is the face of Indonesia in the future. That future face will be determined by how strongly we build collaboration across sectors, across generations, across disciplines, and across ecosystems,” he added.

At the end of his speech, the Mendiksaintek quoted a statement by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, that only a nation that masters science and technology will become a prosperous nation, and education is the foundation of that mastery. In this Hardiknas commemoration, all elements of the nation are invited to jointly build this foundation. (AS) (IAAS/NVA)
