KKNT Innovation IPB University Students Invite Residents to Cook MPASI Menu Competition: Creative Solutions to Prevent Stunting
In an effort to educate the community about stunting prevention, IPB University’s Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture (KKNT) students held a competition and cooking demonstration for complementary feeding (MPASI) in Nagri Kidul Village, Purwakarta District, West Java. The event aimed to foster proactive attitudes and responsibility for family health, as well as develop skills in planning menus that suit children’s nutritional needs.
A total of 16 women from RW 04 to RW 07 participated in this activity. The selection of participants was based on the distribution of toddlers with stunting indications in Nagri Kidul Village, which currently totals 9 toddlers. The menu cooked by each RW group varied, including chicken liver corn porridge, chicken liver potato pepes, fat vegetable eggs, and mackerel in coconut milk sauce.
In addition to the cooking competition, this activity also began with socialization regarding the importance of paying attention to child nutrition, delivered by KKNT Innovation IPB University students from the Department of Community Nutrition. The enthusiasm of the participants could be seen from the complete preparations they brought, including personal cooking utensils and table decorations.
“We only provide stoves and cooking ingredients. But the women have brought complete cooking utensils, even compactly wearing the same color clothes for their group,” said Fatma Izzatunnisa, a member of the KKNT Innovation IPB University group.
The judging was carried out by a joint team of IPB University students, Family Planning Counselors (PKB)/Petugas Lapangan Keluarga Berencana (PLKB), the secretary of the village head, the chief of the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) and the Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team (TPPS) and the Working Group (Pokja) of Kampung KB Nagri Kidul Village.
The assessment criteria are based on cleanliness, suitability of food texture, timeliness, and the final appearance of the dish. The RW 07 group won with a menu of mackerel in coconut milk sauce. Erna, as one of the participants, expressed her excitement,
“Alhamdulillah, today is exciting and fun, it’s just one moment that can’t be bored to tell. Thank you for the students of IPB University, I wish you all success,” she said.
The event was closed with the distribution of prizes and a pocket book of healthy complementary food menu for all participants. With the book, IPB University students hope to increase the knowledge and skills of mothers in serving nutritious food in a sustainable manner. (*/Rz) (IAAS/NAU)
