Supporting the Careers of Students and Alumni, IPB University Collaborates with Bank Syariah Indonesia to Hold BSI Rock Program
The Directorate of Career Development, Entrepreneurship, and Alumni Relations at IPB University, in collaboration with Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), organized the BSI Rock (Recruitment on Campus for Knowledge) program at the Grha Widya Wisuda (GWW) building.
This event was attended by the Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria; the Vice Rector for Global Connectivity, Collaboration, and Alumni Relations, Prof Iskandar Zulkarnaen Siregar. Also in attendance were the Director of Sales and Distribution of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia, Anton Sukarna, along with his team, as well as students and alumni of IPB University.
BSI Rock is one of BSI’s programs aimed at achieving its mission of becoming the preferred and proud company for Indonesia’s best talents.
In the seminar session, Anton Sukarna, serving as the keynote speaker, stated that IPB University students should have confidence in their abilities. He also advised that work should align with one’s passion, rather than being forced merely for the sake of livelihood.
He expressed hope that IPB University students would develop a deeper perspective and not just pursue something without considering whether it aligns with their values and personal interests.
Prof Iskandar Z. Siregar, Vice Rector of IPB University for Global Connectivity, Collaboration, and Alumni, Relations, expressed hope that this opportunity would be optimally utilized by IPB University students and alumni.
Fathiya Alfanina, an IPB University student from the Mathematics Study Program and a participant in the event, hoped that this program would provide valuable experience and expand her networking. She also hoped to successfully participate in the Officer Development Program (ODP) of BSI until completion.
At the end of the session, the Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria, delivered a message to the students and alumni. He explained that there are five types of employees in a company.
The first type is the ‘essential employee,’ one whose absence is immediately felt by everyone due to their excellent performance and achievements. The second type is the ‘beneficial employee,’ one who improves the situation when present, but whose absence does not cause any problems.
The third type, he continued, is the ‘neutral employee,’ whose presence or absence does not significantly impact the situation. The fourth type is the ‘undesirable employee,’ one who should ideally not be present, but whose presence does not cause problems. The fifth type is the ‘detrimental employee,’ one whose presence actually worsens the situation.
“At the very least, you should strive to be a beneficial employee if you cannot yet become an essential employee,” said Prof Arif Satria.
The BSI Rock program is not only a recruitment process but also an effort to enhance Islamic financial literacy, increase educational opportunities, and provide coaching to outstanding students through the BSI Scholarship. Additionally, it offers work experience in Islamic banking through structured internships, with the aim of producing future leaders who will contribute through the ODP program.
The series of activities in the BSI Rock program included seminars by the Director of Sales and Distribution of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia, Anton Sukarna, and a socialization of the BSI Scholarship, structured internships (BIBIT), and ODP programs. Numerous attractive door prizes, such as gold bars, mobile phones, savings accounts, and tablets, were offered to participants who actively asked questions or were able to answer questions.
