IPB University students of the Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKNT) Innovation program conducted a socialization and demonstration of hydroponic cultivation techniques in Pesantren Village, Blado District, Batang Regency, Central Java (26/7). This activity aims to introduce more flexible and environmentally friendly farming methods to the community.

Nihawa Hajar Pudjawati, a student of IPB University, explained that hydroponics can be a solution for people who want to do modern agriculture but are simple and flexible. She said that hydroponics does not require a large area of farmland and can be done in the yard vertically.

“Agricultural products using hydroponic techniques have the same or even better quality than conventional farming techniques on the ground,” said Nihawa Hajar Pudjawati, an IPB University student from the Faculty of Agriculture.

Nihawa explained that her team also practiced the basic steps in hydroponic cultivation, from installing the hydroponic system, to plant maintenance. The participants, who are members of the farmer women’s group (KWT), seemed enthusiastic and actively asked questions during the demonstration process.

Kusupiyah, one of the participants, explained that this activity not only provided new knowledge for the people of Pesantren Village, but also strengthened the relationship between the university and the local community. In addition, this program is expected to encourage the application of modern agricultural technology that can improve food security and the economic welfare of villagers.

“Thank you to IPB University and the students who have provided this assistance. Hopefully in the future the people of Pesantren Village can take advantage of the knowledge gained and apply what has been socialized,” said Kusupiyah. (*/ra/Rz) (IAAS/PRO)
