IPB University students who are carrying out the Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture service program, have successfully integrated a program for villages in Warureja District, Tegal, Central Java. The program is entitled, ‘Realizing Green Warureja: Real Action from Home, Turn Waste into Profit’.
Dewi Sukma Inderawati, Coordinator of KKNT Innovation in Warureja Sub-district, revealed that some of the programs include a simple kale hydroponic system, composter, plastic packaging crafts, ecobrick paving blocks, biopori pots for family medicinal plants (Toga), and vertical gardens. Meanwhile, the proposed long-term program is maggot cultivation and waste banks.
“Theory is not enough, but action and collaboration are needed. Hopefully, our program can be a solution to the waste problem and can be implemented by the community in Warureja Sub-district,” Dewi explained.
Previously, the Warureja Sub-district Government, Tegal, Central Java had held a coordination meeting with the aim of improving environmental cleanliness and public awareness of the importance of domestic waste management. The activity took place at the Warureja Sub-district Hall, attended by representatives of each village’s family welfare empowerment (PKK) group.
