IPB University Innovation KKNT Team Holds Green Campaign with KWT Dewi Pohaci, Tanjungmekar Village
In the midst of efforts to improve food security, IPB University Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture (KKNT) students in Tanjungmekar Village, West Karawang District, Karawang Regency, West Java held a green campaign. The activity collaborated with the Dewi Pohaci Women Farmers Group (KWT) of Tanjungmekar Village.
The campaign was divided into three sub-activities, namely socialisation of IPB Digitani, demonstration of making vegetable pesticides, and activities to plant horticultural crops. This activity is also one of the efforts in alleviating stunting in Tanjungmekar Village.
Sayed Muhammad Fikri, Ligar Tarawita, Mochamad Rizky Aldaffa, Bahiya, Allisya Aurellia, Rafiqah, Dyah Ayu, and Nur Lathifa were the KKNT Innovation IPB University students involved. They delivered education in an interesting way by combining easy-to-understand presentations and videos, demonstrations, and interactive discussions.
According to Sayed, the village coordinator, one of the challenges in improving food security in Tanjungmekar Village is the lack of public awareness in fulfilling their daily nutritional needs.
The presence of KKNT Inovasi IPB University students at KWT Dewi Pohaci received a warm welcome from the management. The administrators of KWT Dewi Pohaci have high enthusiasm for the material presented related to problems in agriculture.
Tono, the supervisor of KWT Dewi Pohaci stated that the presence of KKNT Inovasi IPB University students had a positive impact on KWT Dewi Pohaci by facilitating seeds of various horticultural plants that are beneficial to the local community.
“Previously, we had difficulty getting seeds due to limited funds. However, with the assistance of seeds from IPB University students, we feel grateful because we can share with the community in the neighbourhood of KWT Dewi Pohaci,” said Tono.
Ocah as the leader of KWT Dewi Pohaci added, “Insyallah, we will manage these seedlings well so that the surrounding community can feel the results.”
Sayed said, this activity is a real action as a form of commitment of KKNT Innovation IPB University students in the synergy of human resource development and health to improve the quality of life in Tanjungmekar Village, West Karawang.
“The education delivered is expected to be a provision for the management of KWT Dewi Pohaci in improving food security to alleviate stunting in Tanjungmekar Village,” he concluded. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
