IPB University Innovation KKNT Students in Limbangan Village Pioneer the Household Gutter Cleaning Movement
The IPB University Innovation Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKNT) team took action to clean the sewers with the Limbangan Village Government, Juntinyuat District, Indramayu Regency, West Java. This activity is based on the condition of household sewers that are poorly maintained coupled with domestic waste that fills the sewers in Limbangan Village.
The sewer cleaning activity aims to increase awareness of environmental cleanliness, especially household sewers, in order to create a clean and healthy environment. This activity invites the local village government to participate in order to have a broad impact on the community. The PB University Innovation KKNT team collaborated with KKN students from Majalengka University in the implementation of the event.
“This activity was born from the unrest of KKNT IPB University friends who saw the lack of sewers and village cleanliness. In addition, the condition of the sewer which is full of garbage, smells and does not flow has the potential to become a mosquito nest,” said Naufal as the leader of the Limbangan Village Innovation KKNT group.
Naufal continued, the environmental conditions of Limbangan Village, especially garbage and sewers, have been the main focus of the KKNT Innovation IPB University team in Limbangan Village since arriving in the village.
“Waste care activities begin with raising awareness to elementary school children through cheerful educational activities so that waste awareness is instilled early on. Waste cleaning activities with residents and the village government will be a pioneer activity for the future,” he said.
Abdul Qodir, Pamong Desa Limbangan, revealed that the Limbangan Village Government was very enthusiastic about the garbage and sewer cleaning activities. “I hope the Limbangan community will be more aware of cleanliness in the future with this activity,” he added. (*/Lp/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
