IPB University Innovation KKNT Students in Sukawening Village Create ‘Gemas Banget’ Educational Programme
IPB University students who are members of the Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKNT) programme for Sukawening Village Innovation carried out educational activities for the Gerakan Memilah Sampah Bibit Anak Negeri Tangguh (Gemas Banget). The programme was held at SDN Cilubang 02, SDN Cilubang 05, and SDN Cilubang 06.
Ronna Meila Leswana, one of the representatives of the KKNT Inovasi team said, this activity aims to educate elementary school students as the nation’s generation through conservation education about the environment. This is done in the hope that it can foster the enthusiasm of students to pursue their dreams.
“This education is packed with various interesting programmes with materials and practices, such as understanding the environment, biotic and abiotic environmental components, sorting organic and inorganic waste, and introducing professions and jobs for the future,” she explained.
In addition to educational materials, IPB University students also invited students to do touring around the neighbourhood while picking up and sorting organic and inorganic waste. This activity aims to instil awareness of the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness from an early age.
As the culmination of the activity, the students were invited to be creative by making bins from used materials that were no longer used. The bins were then painted together with great joy.
To measure the effectiveness of the educational programme and determine the level of understanding of the students, the KKNT Inovasi IPB University team held pretests and posttests before and after the learning activities.
“For students who get a score of 100 on the posttest, we give gifts as a form of appreciation for their efforts and enthusiasm in learning. This gift is expected to motivate other students to continue learning and achieving,” explained Ronna.
The educational activities carried out by KKNT Inovasi IPB University in Sukawening Village received positive appreciation from the school and community. The teachers and parents hope that similar activities can be carried out again in the future.
Nada, a 5th grade student of SDN Cilubang 05 showed a positive reaction by saying. “Teteh, the activity is really exciting. I hope Teteh comes to Nada’s Elementary School often.’
Ronna hopes that this activity will be a form of real contribution from IPB University students in educating and advancing the nation’s generation. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
