IPB University Holds Graduation Ceremony, Rector Emphasizes the Importance of Character and Leadership
IPB University held the Graduation Ceremony of Doctoral, Master, Bachelor, and Diploma Education Programs Phase VII Academic Year 2023/2024. This graduation was attended by 500 graduates, consisting of 29 graduates of doctoral programs, 155 graduates of master education programs, 314 graduates of undergraduate education programs, and 2 graduates of diploma education programs. This graduation was held at Graha Widya Wisuda, IPB Dramaga Campus, (17/7).
Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria, in his speech delivered three important messages for graduates to be able to respond to change. First, he emphasized that everyone is a leader.
“IPB University has a vision to continue to produce prospective leaders. All of you graduates are prospective leaders, therefore leaders must have 4 pillar levels, namely lead themselves, lead others, lead change, and lead the future, “said Prof Arif.
“Everyone can lead themselves, everyone can lead others, but not everyone can lead change, and not everyone can lead the future,” he said.
He also mentioned Ki Hajar Dewantara’s quote, “Everyone is a teacher, every home is a school.” Prof Arif assured that education is not only the responsibility of the school, but also the responsibility of the entire community.
Second, mindset affects academic achievement. Therefore, mindsets such as motivation and self-confidence have a greater impact on student academics than other factors.
The third message, the rector invited the graduates to strengthen character and integrity. He shared the saying “When you lose your money, you lose nothing. When you lose your health, you lose something. When you lose your character, you lose everything.” Like the research conducted by Thomas Stanley, the key to success is honesty and discipline.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Aksi Relawan Mandiri (ARM), Alumni Association (HA) IPB University, Ir Ahmad Husein congratulated and wished success to the graduates. He also welcomed the graduates as part of the big family of HA IPB University.
“HA IPB University will continue to strive to accommodate the potential, interests, and needs of alumni in its various activity programs,” he said.
