Conduct ‘Sak Wong Sak Wit’ Program, IPB University Students and Perhutani Plant 101 Trees at SDN Semedo

Students of IPB University’s Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture (KKNT) in Semedo Village, Kedungbanteng, Tegal, Central Java, participated in greening activities by planting 101 trees at SDN Semedo. Part of the ‘Sak Wong Sak Wit’ programme which means one person one tree, this activity aims to increase environmental awareness and green the school and village area. 

All of the 101 tree seedlings planted, 54 were donated by Perhutani and students, consisting of 20 kesambi tree seedlings, 20 randu tree seedlings, and 14 salam tree seedlings. Meanwhile, 47 other tree seedlings were donated by the parents of grade 1 students.

The event was attended by Asper Perhutani Kedungjati, Secretary of Semedo Village, Chief of Semedo LMDH, Principal and teachers, IPB KKN team, and the parents of SDN Semedo students. The activity began with community service by all students in the school environment before planting tree seedlings. 

The leader of the KKNT Inovasi team, Rafif Rabbani, stated that their involvement in this activity was an active participation of IPB University students in environmental conservation and children’s education. “We are very enthusiastic to be involved in this tree planting activity. In addition to providing valuable experience for us, this activity is also a tangible manifestation of our contribution to the environment and society,” he said.

The KKNT Innovation IPB University team had also been teaching in the school area for the previous two days. On the first day, they introduced the children to organic and inorganic waste, while on the second day, they held National Children’s Day activities, with paper folding activities for grades 1 to 3 and writing for grades 4 to 6. In addition, the IPB University students also donated six trash bins to the school. 

Assistant Perhutani (Asper) Kedungjati, Sugiyanto, in his speech conveyed the importance of the participation of all parties in preserving nature. “By planting these trees, we are not only greening the school environment, but also providing valuable lessons to children about the importance of protecting nature,” he said.

The principal of SDN Semedo stated that with the spirit of togetherness and concern for the environment, this activity ran successfully and smoothly. He hopes that this initiative can be an example for other communities to be more concerned and active in preserving nature.

This tree planting activity is expected to have a positive impact on the surrounding environment, increase awareness of the importance of conservation, and strengthen the relationship between Perhutani, Semedo Elementary School, and the Semedo Village community. (*/Rz) (IAAS/ZQA)
