IPB University signed a collaboration with the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) 18/10. The cooperation that will be carried out between the two parties is in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), data science, robotics, herbal industry, and medical engineering.

“Welcome to IPB University and thank you for your presence at IPB University, we are very happy because we can carry out this collaboration. Indonesia and Malaysia are brothers, therefore we must continue to improve cooperation in many ways, one of which is in the field of education,” said Prof Arif Satria, Rector of IPB University.

According to him, the research field is important to continue to collaborate with Malaysia. The brotherhood between Indonesia and Malaysia can also be well established because they have the same history and problems between the two can be resolved in a family manner.

“Currently IPB University has fostered 6.1 percent of villages in Indonesia and we invite UTM students to be together in building villages while introducing various villages in Indonesia,” said Prof Arif Satria.

He continued that village development between IPB University and UTM is very strategic because it has a big impact, one of which is building the enthusiasm of farmers.

“The role of UTM is also very important, especially in the field of technology development, because agriculture cannot stand alone and needs support from technology fields such as UTM,” he said.

Prof Datuk Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail, Naib Canselor UTM, conveyed his purpose for coming to IPB University. “Our purpose in coming here is to complete what should be completed, so we at UTM always consider this collaboration as an engagement and the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) as a marriage, so there must be a dowry, project and outcome,” he said.

He hopes that the MoU will lead to MoAs and more specific collaborative projects that can produce outcomes.

“I would like to thank you for establishing a very good friendship. I have a mission to close the relationship that is already close, especially between countries in Asia and the first country I think of is Indonesia,” said Prof. Datuk Ahmad Fauzi.

He explained that UTM had built the first Artificial Intelligence Faculty in Malaysia. He said this effort is in line with the ideals of IPB University, which will build the Faculty of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

“UTM already has specialized technology in modern agriculture by utilizing AI in its development. I am sure that with better efforts, we can build joint projects in the future,” he concluded. (Lp) (IAAS/MZS)
