KSHE IPB University Releases 113 Students for Field Practice in Nature Conservation and Collaborative Internship

The Department of Forest Resource Conservation and Ecotourism (DKSHE) at IPB University released 113 students in their seventh semester to carry out Field Practice in Nature Conservation and Collaborative Internship, 30/8. This activity is done as a part of the implementation of the Independence Campus Competition Program (PKKM) 2023. Some of the locations where the practice takes place include Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park, Gunung Halimun Salak National Park, and Ujung Kulon National Park.

Dr Rinekso Soekmadi, the President of the Field Practice Commission, mentioned that the PKKM activities in Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park are conducted in two resorts, namely Selabintana Resort and Bodogol Resort. Meanwhile, the activities in Gunung Halimun Salak National Park are located at Cikaniki Resort and Loji Resort.

“The practice at Ujung Kulon National Park is conducted in seven resorts, which include Cibiuk Resort, Cibayoni, Cimahi, Cibunar, Kalejetan, Karangranjang, and Taman Jaya,” Dr Rinekso elaborated.

The IPB University professor further explained that the field practice activities will take place from August 31st to October 5th, 2023. Following that, the internship activities will continue from October 7th to October 27th, 2023.

The Presdient of the KSHE Department at IPB University, Dr Nyoto Santoso, emphasized to students regarding the importance of showing respect and appreciation to all parties involved in their respectful field practice and internship locations.

“In addition to benefiting the students, this activity also facilitates the capacity-building of the national park authorities as well as business and industry partners,” said Dr Nyoto Santoso.

The Dean of the Faculty of Forestry and Environment at IPB University, Dr Naresworo Nugroho, officially bid farewell to the students and accompanying field supervisors. “As representatives of the Faculty of Forestry and Environment, both students and academic members of IPB University are expected to prioritize health and safety in their work and uphold the university’s reputation during the practice,” he concluded.
