IPB University Holds Socialization of Retail Waqf Sukuk SWR004 Series
The Business, Investment and Waqf Management Agency (BP Biswaf) of IPB University together with the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI) and Bank Mega Syariah held a virtual Education and Socialization (Edusos) of the SWR004 series Retail Waqf Sukuk. This Edusos activity aims to provide information about the SWR004 series Retail Waqf Sukuk which has different features compared to the previous series.
Present at the activity were Dr Naufal Mahfudz as Head of BP Biswaf IPB University, Nana Riana as, Marjana as Director of HC, Risk and Compliance of Bank Mega Syariah, Emmy Hamidiyah as Secretary of BWI Kenazhiran Institution and Retna Widayawati as Chairperson of Agrianita IPB University.
“The purpose of offering the SWR004 series Retail Waqf Sukuk is to provide opportunities for the community to donate money more easily which can be done through digital / online platforms. SWR004 is also a safe investment instrument because it is guaranteed by the state,” said Nana Riana.
The SWR004 offering period starts from July 7 to August 31, 2023. SWR004 has a two-year tenor that will end on September 10, 2025 and offers a yield or floating coupon (floating with floor) of 5.85 percent per year.
BP Biswaf IPB University established a synergy with BWI to distribute the SWR004 returns in the form of a food security program to empower breeders which is the main program in SWR004. In her presentation, Emmy Hamidiyah explained that the food security program has been run by IPB University with BWI since the issuance of the SWR003 series Retail Waqf Sukuk.
In the first phase, the SWR003 proceeds have been channelled to provide five cows managed by Solidaritas Alumni of the Indonesian People’s Animal Husbandry School (SASPRI) in Kandat, Kediri, East Java for fattening and sale. The profit will be distributed with a profit-sharing pattern, where 65 percent is given to the welfare of farmers and 35 percent will be given to IPB University and re-channeled for educational scholarships.
In his material, Dr Naufal Mahfudz explained that BP Biswaf IPB University was formed to manage and develop waqf assets at IPB University. In June 2023, BP Biswaf IPB University received a waqf land in Cihideung Ilir area of 1.3 hectares. This land will be productive through SWR004 returns by establishing a broiler farm with a closed house system through a partnership pattern.
“Community empowerment can also be done through a partnership scheme with returns provided for the welfare of breeders and nazir IPB University in the form of educational scholarships,” explained Dr Naufal Mahfudz.
Meanwhile, Retna Widayawati explained that Agrianita IPB University fully supports the waqf movement in SWR004. According to her, women have an important role in raising the waqf program, among others because of their strategic position as family financial managers.
