IPB University once again achieved remarkable success. Two students from IPB University’s Vocational School and Undergraduate Program have made a name for themselves in the grand event of the ‘National Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres) 2023’. The selection took place from July 24 to 27, 2023, at Hasanudin University, Makassar, South Sulawesi.
Volika Sinci Sari, a student from IPB University’s Vocational School majoring in Digital Communication and Media, was awarded the Best Outstanding Student at the National Diploma Program Level and received an Honorable Mention for Inspirational Care. Meanwhile, Azzahra Putri Santi, a student from the Department of Forestry Products, Faculty of Forestry IPB University, was honored as the 3rd Outstanding Student at the National Undergraduate Program Level and received an Honorable Mention for Inspirational Resilience.
Both of them competed with participants from other universities in this prestigious competition organized by the National Achievement Center under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbudristek). The awards were based on the evaluation of 27 judges, focusing on outstanding achievements, innovative products, and English language proficiency.
“Alhamdulillah, I am very happy and grateful for winning because it makes my parents and those around me proud. Also, I have high hopes that this outstanding student title will help me contribute more to society,” said Volika.
Their hard-earned success taught them about resilience and perseverance, accompanied by strong belief. Volika believes that these qualities are the magical formula for fighters. She takes this achievement as motivation for further self-improvement.
“In the end, every competition not only tests our hard skills but also our mental strength and self-confidence,” she added.
Previously, Volika had achieved various outstanding accomplishments in various competitions, including winning 1st place in the Kartini Day Podcast Competition, 2nd place in the Essay Competition, 2nd place in the LNL Vlog Competition, a gold medal in the Tanoto Student Research Award, and recognition as the Most Outstanding Scholar.
As for Azzahra, the award became an unforgettable moment in her life. “This recognition is not just mine personally but also the result of the support and hard work of everyone at IPB University who have provided guidance from the faculty level to the national level. And of course, I would not have received this award without the prayers and support from my family, mentors, professors, friends, and classmates,” she said.
This achievement motivates her to continue making a positive impact on the environment and contribute even more. For instance, through the Seribu Satu Cita Foundation, she aims to work in the field of education and social issues for the future of Indonesian children.
“The lesson I’ve learned is that humans are lifelong learners capable of spreading knowledge to be beneficial in society. As my life motto and motivation during this outstanding student journey, ‘Being great alone is not enough; be great and make a positive impact,'” she continued.
Azzahra has also achieved various other accolades, including a gold medal in the presentation class of the Student Creativity Program-Community Service (PKM-PM), being the Chairperson of the Seribu Satu Cita Foundation, initiating the Permata Cita scholarship to empower Indonesian women, and being the figure behind the HKI Warrior Board Game, an educational tool for entrepreneurial education for out-of-school children.
The myriad of achievements earned by these two IPB University students can serve as inspiration for other students. Their accomplishments also attest to the excellent quality of education provided by IPB University. (MW/Rz) (IAAS/DSR)
