Combatting Stunting Numbers in the Sukaraja Subdistrict, KKN-T Innovation Team from IPB University Creates KACEGAT Program

Students from IPB University who are members of the Community Service Learning-Thematic (KKN-T) Innovation team in Sukaraja Subdistrict, Cicendo District, Bandung City, organized a stunting education program with the name KACEGAT, which stands for Sukaraja Prevents and Addresses Stunting. Chandrika Tantiana Dewi, as the chairperson of the project, explained that the program consists of two main activities, namely stunting education and a demonstration of preparing supplementary food (PMT).

"The main focus of KACEGAT is the issue of stunting, which is deemed as one of the problems that has a relatively high level of urgency in the Sukaraja Subdistrict. Our hope is that through KACEGAT, the public's awareness with relevance to the dangers of stunting will increase, so that we, as students, can the very least, contribute to a positive change on the subject of the stunting issue in this community," explained Chandrika during the event which took place at Sukaraja Subdistrict Hall.

Dr Yulina Eva Riany, a lecturer from the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at IPB University, and also the Field Supervisor (DPL) for the KKN-T Innovation team in Sukaraja, delivered a presentation on stunting. There were as much as three important points discussed by Dr Yulina, among them are the definition of stunting, prevention and mitigation strategies for stunting, and MPASI for stunting prevention.

To ensure a better understanding at grasping the material, the IPB University KKN-T Innovation team also came prepared with posters and leaflets with easily comprehensible language as well as attractive designs.

Ganjar Arimukti, SSos, MAP, as the Secretary of Cicendo District, showed his support and appreciation for the KACEGAT program, particularly with the preparation of the posters and leaflets. As a national issue, stunting is also considered a priority program in Bandung City, with the means of reducing the still relatively high numbers of stunting.

"We hope that this program will not only be limited to bringing in benefits, but can also be conveyed to the local community, family, and relatives," said Ganjar.

In addition, Heri Nermansyah, SAP, MAP, as the Acting Head (Plt) of the Sukaraja Subdistrict, and Kadek Supartini, as the Secretary of Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) of the Sukaraja Subdistrict, also made sure to give their appreciation and expressed their gratitude towards the IPB University KKN-T Innovation team for organizing the KACEGAT program.

Meanwhile, Eti, one of the participant representatives as well as a member of PKK, sincerely believes that the program is very beneficial, especially for PKK, as they are placed at the forefront of building prosperous families.

The event was also fruitfully attended by representatives from the Sukaraja Community Health Center and the Community Empowerment Institution (LPM), as well as members of the Integrated Health Service Posts and the PKK, along with representatives of toddler mothers from each neighbourhood.

The IPB University Sukaraja KKN-T Innovation team that arranged this program consists of 10 students that all came from different academic major backgrounds. Among them are Sultan Faris Fadhillah (Marine Science and Technology), Iqbal Zulfikar Rahman (Management), Tsabita Fiddini Sunyono (Family and Consumer Sciences), Chandrika Tantiana Dewi (Family and Consumer Sciences), Rechita Anggari Ramadhayanti (Community Nutrition), Delvia Arrivaa Arshi Hermawan (Community Nutrition), Riza Sativa Elya (Community Nutrition), Diva Marshanda Ryanni (Development Economics), Faisha Fasha Natasha Putri (Nutrition and Feed Technology), and lastly Shintia Rahma Islamiati (Communication and Community Development).
