The IPB University KKN-T student group in Tanggulangin Village, Klirong District, Kebumen, Central Java organized a coastal clean-up activity at Heppiii Beach. The activity consisted of two series, namely beach clean-up followed by waste identification. Identification was carried out based on the type of waste found, namely organic and inorganic.

The coastal clean-up action was carried out in order to increase public awareness as an effort to maintain environmental cleanliness, especially in coastal areas. This activity also collaborated with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Kebumen Regency, Community-Based Disaster Preparedness (CBAT) of Tanggulangin Village with support from the Japan Red Cross Society (JRCS), organizations and extracurriculars of SMAN 1 Klirong, Gabungan Siswa Pecinta Alam (GASPALA) SMAN 2 Kebumen, Palang Merah Remaja (PMR) Wira SMK Ma'arif 09 Klirong, Karang Taruna Geloran Samudera Tanggulangin Village, women of Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) Tanggulangin Village and all the managers of Heppiii Ayamputih Beach.

"We walked along the beach while picking up trash and putting it into trash bags based on its type. This action is to reduce garbage scattered on the beach. We also gave a memento in the form of two trash bags that we left on the beach," said one of the KKN-T Innovation students, Irfan Marzuki.

Although it had been raining since morning, the enthusiasm of volunteers and the community to participate in the coastal clean-up activity did not fade. In fact, the merchants around the beach also participated in picking up trash.

"Thank you to all parties involved in the coastal clean-up of Heppiii Beach. Hopefully, this beach clean-up can become a routine activity for the local community and can increase their awareness of the importance of maintaining cleanliness on the coast," said Irfan Marzuqi, who is also the person in charge of the activity.

"I really appreciate it. The event is also very positive because the IPB University KKN-T Innovation students care about Heppiii Beach. This activity can educate tourists, local communities and managers so that they are aware of the large amount of garbage on the beach. At least this activity can be continued," said Purwadi, Chairman of Tanggulangin Village Youth Organization.

Qosim Jamaludin, a PMI Kebumen representative, said the importance of a driving force to accommodate public awareness to get involved. Therefore, he appreciated the IPB University Innovation KKN-T students for their initiation.

"Hopefully this is not a seasonal program, but can be maintained and can work together with other parties," added Qosim who is also the coordinator of the JCRS program.

Similarly, the village coordinator of the KKN-T Innovation team, Iqbal Jayusman, also hopes that in the future he can collaborate with more parties to increase public awareness. Thus, waste problems can be reduced and have a positive impact on society and the environment.
