KKN-T IPB University Team Surveys the Agromaritime Potential of Kebumen Regency
Prof Tri Wiji Nurani and Prihatin Ika Wahyuningrum, SPi, MSi, lecturers from the Department of Fisheries Resource Utilization (PSP), Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) at IPB University, conducted an initial survey to explore the potential of villages in Kebumen Regency in preparation for the implementation of the Kuliah Kerja Nyata-Tematik (KKN-T) Innovation program at IPB University in 2023. The survey aimed to reconfirm the village locations and the necessary preparations.
"The IPB KKN-T Innovation in 2023 in Kebumen Regency is expected to be sustainable. The program for 2023 is aimed at producing a blueprint for the coastal area development of Kebumen Regency for the foreseeable future, in addition to short-term activities that will be carried out," said Prof Tri.
The activity began with a meeting with the Kebumen Regency Government held at the Office of the Regional Planning, Research, and Development Agency (Baperlitbangda) in Kebumen. Tri Anggorowati, SKM, MSi, the Secretary of Baperlitbangda Kebumen, warmly welcomed the IPB University Innovation KKN-T program.
During the meeting, several villages were selected as the locations for the IPB University Innovation KKN-T program in Kediri Regency. These include four villages in Mirit Sub-district (Rowo, Wiromartan, Lembupurwo, and Mirit Petikusan), two villages in Klirong Sub-district (Tanggulangin and Jogosimo), and two villages in Bonorowo Sub-district (Rowosari and Tlogorejo).
"We had the opportunity to directly observe the potential of the villages that will be the locations for the IPB University KKN-T program in Kebumen. Geographically, these villages are located in the southern part of Kebumen Regency, which is a coastal area," he explained.
Prof Tri explained that the majority of the residents in Rowo village work as fishermen. However, the marine fishing activities in Rowo have not developed well, partly due to the fishermen's lack of knowledge regarding fish quality and marketing.
