Himasiltan IPB University Holds Prospecting: Prepare Graduate Careers, Grow Entrepreneurial Spirit
Forest Product Student Association (Himasiltan), Faculty of Forestry and Environment (Fahutan) IPB University recently held a Forest Product Spectacular (Forspecting) which is a joint activity of the Career Room and Wood Working Class 2023. This activity was attended by a number of students from the Department of Forest Products IPB University and public at the Dramaga IPB Campus.
Azizah Amelia, a member of Himasiltan IPB University explained, this activity is expected to be able to help participants to have more views and knowledge regarding career preparation after graduation. In addition, participants are expected to be able to produce forest products that are sustainable, creative and innovative and foster an entrepreneurial spirit.
The 2023 Career Room consists of two series of activities, namely seminars and talk shows. This activity was attended by 110 participants. The activity was filled in by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ARAE, namely Masrur, ST.
“We have to explore a lot of activities to gain experience. Not afraid of the risks involved, empowering people around us and we should be able to help and be useful to society. One way to do this is by creating jobs for the community,” said Masrur.
Wood Working Class 2023 is a training in making woodcraft made from forest products which is carried out by the Entrepreneurship Division of Himasiltan IPB University. This activity also works with the Bogor Raya Wood Hobbyist community.
"Through this activity, it is hoped that participants will be able to get to know the technology that is capable of developing forest products and can make forest products of high value. It is hoped that the understanding and techniques for making forest product products from the Wood Working Class 2023 activities can be applied in the utilization of timber and non-timber forest products," said Azizah.
Azizah explained, the Wood Working Class activity began by introducing participants to the tools and machines that will be used in making products. Participants also received material related to work safety procedure training guided by the Bogor Raya Wood Hobby community mentor.
"The participants had the opportunity to cut wood, drill, sand and finish in the form of installing dowels guided by the Bogor Raya Wood Hobbyist community and varnishing with wax by PT Propan Raya ICC. At the end of the activity, participants received balsa seedlings to be planted and cared for with the aim of preserving nature," said Azizah. (*/Rz) (IAAS/Res)
