Department of Forest Management IPB University Holds Forest Management Road to School
Department of Forest Management, Faculty of Forestry and Environment, IPB University held a Forest Management Road to School. This program was carried out to motivate high school (SMA)/equivalent students to continue their tertiary education, especially to the Department of Forest Management IPB University and to provide material about forestry in general to students.
In the first implementation, the Department of Forest Management IPB University collaborated with the Kadipaten State Forestry Vocational High School (SMK), Tasikmalaya (14/6). This Forest Management Road to School was attended by all 10th and 11th graders of Kadipaten Forestry Vocational High School, totaling 211 people.
Forestry related materials were presented by lecturers from the Department of Forest Management, including Dr. Bahruni who provided material on forestry policy. Prof. Heri Purnomo delivered material on forests and climate change in global influence.
Dr Nining Puspaningsih explained remote sensing techniques for identification and mapping of land cover and forests. Meanwhile, Dr Budi Kuncahyo shared tips and tricks for feeling comfortable living in the middle of the wilderness.
"This Forest Management Road to School activity will continue and become part of a series of promotions for high school/equivalent students throughout Indonesia," said Dr Soni Trison, Head of the Forest Management Department of IPB University.
Titin Suhartini, Deputy Principal of the Kadipaten State Forestry Vocational School for Curriculum stated that this activity was very beneficial for the students. With this activity, students can gain additional knowledge about forestry.
"Hopefully this activity can motivate students to continue their education at the Department of Forest Management, IPB University.
