IPB University applied for ASIIN accreditation in order to improve the quality and quality of education on an international scale. Some of the proposed study programs include the Silviculture Study Program, Faculty of Forestry and Environment (Fahutan); Nutrition Science and Feed Technology Study Program and Animal Production Technology Study Program, Faculty of Animal Science; and Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science.

ASIIN is an independent international accreditation body based in Germany for quality assurance of degree programs in engineering, informatics, natural sciences, and mathematics. Since 2000, ASIIN has had the right to grant accreditation from the German Accreditation Council. ASIIN is registered in The European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR). EQAR is included in the list of accreditation registers recognized by the Indonesian government.

The four study programs began undergoing a series of visitations by ASIIN's peer review/assessor team offline on May 11-12, 2023. The ASIIN peers consist of Prof Gerhard Schleining (the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences), Dr Bernhard Hiebl (University of Veterinary Medicine), Prof Carsten Mann (Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development), Prof Robert Hänsch (Technical University, Braunschweig), Dr Fittrie Pratiwy (Padjadjaran University), Christian Gruber (Industry – vetted-consulting) and Dr Daniel Seegers (Secretariat – ASIIN).

Rector of IPB University, Prof Dr Arif Satria said the visitation was basically an examination of the suitability of submission documents with facts in the field. "In this visitation activity, it is carried out in six sessions, namely the university leadership session, study program manager session, student and alumni session, lecturer session, partner session, and final meeting session," he explained.

The first day of visitation began with a series of opening events held in the Academic Senate Room, Andi Hakim Nasoetion Building which was attended by IPB University leaders and staff.

The visitation activity was then continued with a tour of IPB University facilities, including Graha Widya Wisuda, library, Common Class Room, dormitory, clinic, Advance Research Lab, and other facilities. Tours were also conducted on the facilities of each study program.
On the second day of visitation held in the Conference Room of the Faculty of Animal Science, a meeting was held with stakeholders including partners from the industrial world and partner institutions in each study program. The meeting discussed cooperation with industry for the development of study programs and others. In addition, interviews were also conducted with various parties, such as student representatives, lecturers, and alumni of each study program.

"International accreditation has several types, namely accredited, conditional accreditation, and the highest unconditional accreditation. With this visitation, we expect the results of the international accreditation of the agriculture cluster to get unconditional accreditation, so there is no need for additional documents that need to be completed. Hopefully, the study program that was visited can achieve full ASIIN international accreditation with a validity period of up to five years," said the Rector. (LJS/Rz) (IAAS/TNY)
