IPB University School of Business Extends MoA with Tokyo University of Agriculture

On the occasion of a visit to Japan (8/3), Dr Idqan Fahmi, Acting (PLt) Dean of the School of Business (SB) IPB University extended the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Faculty of International Agriculture and Food Studies, Tokyo University of Agriculture (FIAFS-OLD).

The signing of the MoA was witnessed by Prof Yusli Wardiatno, Educational Attache at the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) Tokyo, Prof Hatanaka Katsumori, Head of the FIAFS-TUA Agribusiness Department, Dr Ramadhona Saville, Lecturer at the FIAFS-TUA Agribusiness Department and Dr Siti Jahroh Chair of the International Collaboration Commission SB IPB University.

"The MoA is valid for 2 years, namely until December 2025. Previously, School of Business IPB University with FIAFS-TUA already had an MoA for the implementation of Indonesia Bio-Business Field Practice, but the MoA has ended on December 31, 2022," he said.

He explained, Bio-Business Field Practice (BBFP) is a mandatory subject for students of the Agribusiness Department of FIAFS TUA where students directly practice with Bio-Business actors. BBFIP is implemented in Japan and outside Japan such as in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Brazil.

"For the implementation of BBFIP in Indonesia, the Department of Agribusiness FIAFS TUA is working with SB IPB University. The students carry out hands-on practice in the field of Bio-Business. Activities that are already underway include organic vegetable farming, fisheries, animal husbandry, and others. Apart from direct practice, Japanese students can also interact with SB IPB University students, get to know the culture, and also micro and small businesses around Bogor," he explained.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he continued, this program could only be implemented in 2022. For 2023, BBFIP will be held at the end of August 2023. "Hopefully the implementation of the second BBFIP this year can go well," he said.
 
Apart from BBFIP, he said, SB IPB University and FIAFS TUA discussed other possible collaborations. "In May there will be a visit from SB IPB University Doctoral program students to TUA, then a visiting professor in June. In addition, lecturers from the FIAFS TUA Agribusiness Department participated in the Summer Course which was held by SB IPB University. Finally, IPB University plans to host the International Students Seminar (ISS) in 2024," he said. (*/Zul) (IAAS/TNY)
