HSC IPB University and DKPKP Jakarta Increase the Quantity and Quality of Competent Halal Slaughterers
As many as 23 participants from the Mosque Prosperity Council (DKM) and Slaughterhouses (RPH) in the DKI Jakarta area attended the Halal Slaughterer (Juleha) Training based on Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI) No. 147 of 2022 Batch II at Harper MT Haryono , Jakarta some time ago.

“It has been five years since this activity was routinely carried out. Nothing else aims to increase the knowledge, attitudes and skills of halal slaughterers to produce animal food sources that are safe, healthy, whole and halal (ASUH) and following animal welfare standards," said drh Dian in her remarks.
The training lasted for two days and was continued with the Halal Slaughterer Competency Test in collaboration with the Animal Health Professional Certification Institute (LSP Keswan) at Cilangkap RPH and Dharma Jaya RPH.
Meanwhile, the Central Secretary of HSC IPB University, Dr Noviyan Darmawan said that the existence of a competent halal butcher is one of the requirements for RPH in running a halal product guarantee system. If this is fulfilled, it can accelerate halal certification, especially in the self-declaration scheme (self-declaration of business actors), where there are micro and small businesses (UMK) that use meat and its derivative products as one of the ingredients.
"The obligation for halal certification for all food and beverage products produced and distributed in Indonesia must be completed on October 17, 2024 in accordance with the mandate of the Halal Product Assurance Law No. 33 of 2014. With a competent juleha, it will contribute to the success of implementing the halal product guarantee system in Indonesia, because meat and its derivative products are halal-critical raw materials and must be halal certified," he concluded.
Sholahudin El Ayubi Lc, MS as the speaker conveyed about halal certification, halal product guarantee systems, halal butchers, and Islamic law application. Submission of this material aims to instill and increase the awareness of slaughterhouse workers always to uphold religious principles.
"Halal slaughterers are closely related to halal and haram because they prepare animal food for Muslims. Therefore, being a juleha is a noble task," he said.
Dr Henny Nuraini, who was also present as a guest speaker explained the importance of hygiene and sanitation from pre-slaughter to post-slaughter. He also explained the various types of hygiene facilities needed at the slaughter site. "Not only juleha who is responsible for the cleanliness of the slaughter site, but all the committees involved," he said.
