PSP3 IPB University Strengthens the Jarmaskor Institution in Sukabumi Regency

The Corridor Community Network (Jarmaskor), based in Cipeuteuy Village, Sukabumi Regency, has experienced institutional weakness in the recent past. "Before when Jarmaskor did not have anything, all united. But after having capital and assets, conflicts between members began to emerge, "said Agus Bachtiar, Chairperson of Jarmaskor.

The statement was delivered by Agus in front of the Head of the Center for Agriculture and Rural Development (PSP3) IPB University, Dr. Sofyan Sjaf and the team, Saturday, (4/1) in Cisarua Village, Cipeuteuy Village, Kec. Kabandungan, Sukabumi Regency, West Java.

In the previous period, Jarmaskor was chaired by Dayat Hidayat. After the change of management, the seeds of conflict were sown, and even involved those who were not administrators of Jarmaskor.

Another conflict that arises is that members and administrators who will work in Jarmaskor are not allowed by a land owner to pass a road that can be accessed by vehicle. Another conflict is the confusion about the payment of land tax that has been purchased in a private name, but the area is adjacent to the Jarmaskor location. The flat land, previously disputed, was its ownership status, whether it was private or owned by Jarmaskor.

To reduce this conflict, the management of Jarmaskor now does not dispute the claim of ownership of the private land. That flat piece of land, which is then not allowed by the owner to become the vehicle entry point that accesses to the garden, garbage bank and Jarmaskor ranch area.

Almost all of Jarmaskor's land is in a hilly area with a certain slope. Due to the conflict, the Head of PSP3 said, "The conflict arose because personal interests began to emerge. Their interests are no longer in line with Jarmaskor's institutions".

To resolve the conflict, Dr. Sofyan Sjaf and the PSP3 team of IPB University provided a solution so that it would no longer be preoccupied with conflict. "It is better to strengthen cooperation with members and administrators whose interests are only to advance Jarmaskor. We just ignore those who are busy with these personal interests, "said Sofyan.

Agus and the management of the Jarmaskor Maju Sejahtera Cooperative and the women from the Farmer Women Group (KWT) agreed with this suggestion. The follow up of the meeting will be carried out with cooperative training, precision village literacy, the provision of goat livestock and various forms of institutional strengthening. The Jarmaskor Institute will also be directed to become a legal entity by becoming a foundation. Later, PSP3 IPB University will hold IPB University's Animal Husbandry School (SPR) to reactivate goat raising activities. PSP3 involvement, is a collaboration with the Kehati Foundation, Jakarta.
