Collaboration of Work Unit and Student Organization of IPB University to Construct the Citizen of Paledang Correctional Institution, Bogor
Research and Community Service Institutions (LPPM), Vocational School IPB University and Agricultural Vocational Student Association (Himavoperta) conduct initiations and field observations at the Bogor Paledang Correctional Institution in order to map and find the needs needed to support the community development program, (24/1). The program is aimed at residents who have undergone assimilation or who have served half their sentence with certain conditions from the Bogor Paledang Correctional Institution (Lapas).
The team from IPB University was represented by the Deputy Head of LPPM for Community Service, Prof. Sugeng Heri Suseno, accompanied by the Community Service Program Manager, Danang Aria Nugroho, SE, two students and Himavoperta advisor as well as Vocational School lecturer, Dr. Lili Dahliani.
Paledang Bogor Lapas Head, Teguh Wibowo, BcIP, SH, MSi welcomed this meeting because it could collaborate with academics who have knowledge and innovation that can be applied in Lapas, especially in providing skills training to Lapas residents so that later they are free and return to the community, they are ready to work.
According to Teguh Wibowo, several things that need to be assisted by IPB University are the development of grass jelly plants and making beef meatballs. "There are many grass jelly plants that live wild near Lapas. It becomes very useful if IPB University teaches the science of processing plants into grass jelly. One more thing, we need to increase the knowledge and skills of meat processing into meatballs. Therefore, I am grateful to IPB University, which has been present at Lapas Paledang for helping us, "he said.
Meanwhile, according to Prof. Sugeng, this collaboration was carried out through the Dedicated Lecturer program. Students from Himavoperta who will later go to the field to interact directly with residents fostered by Peledang Bogor. In this activity students are also expected to be able to hone and develop their soft skills so that they can become a generation that has the ability of 4C (critical thinking, problem solving communication, creativity and collaboration). And the most important thing is that they can be useful for Paledang Bogor Lapas, especially the fostered residents in Lapas.
While Dr. Lili Dahliani said that Himavoperta is one of the student organizations in the Vocational School of IPB University which houses six study programs. Namely the division of crop production (food, horticulture, plantation and forestry), livestock, and fish. One of Himavoperta's work programs is conducting training, counseling related to science and skills. "With this activity, it is hoped that a generation of agile leaders will be realized which provides benefits to the surrounding community in accordance with the era of its development," he said (IAAS/SAR)
