Dozens of students who were part of Marine Sciences and Technology Students Association (HIMATEKA), Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, IPB University, held a Marine Conservation and Field Survey (KONSURV 2019), Sunday (20/10) in Cangkir Island, Kronjo Subdistrict, Tangerang Regency, Banten. This year’s event focused on planting 500 mangrove seedlings, obtaining information on the physical, chemical, and biological parameters of oceanography, community socio-economic data, and cleaning up the beaches around the Cangkir Island area.

The Chairman of KONSURV 2019, Muhammad Asrof Abror Jundulloh said that this year's KONSURV activity, with the theme "Restoration and Rehabilitation of Mangrove Ecosystems on the Cangkir Island Coast, Tangerang, Banten" was a concrete manifestation of the student movement in preserving coastal areas and protecting the future of the earth. "This activity is also a continuation of the previous KONSURV with the same focus which is mangrove conservation. Nine years before, KONSURV was held in Parigi, Pangandaran, West Java," said this IPB University Student.

Meanwhile, the representative from Mangrove Community Cangkir Island (Mapuca), Heru said that the society and government officials from Kronjo Subdistrict were happy with the KONSURV event. “We fully support any activity with mangrove conservation purpose. We feel like this activity can promote ecotourism and improve the economy of the society,” he said.
