Sigi Regional Government Partners with IPB University LPPM to Declare Anutapura People School of Animal Husbandry (SPR)

Institution of Research and Community Service (LPPM) IPB University, partnering with Regional Government (Pemda) of Sigi, Central Sulawesi declared Anutapura People School of Animal Husbandry (SPR)in Walatana Village, South Dolo District, Sigi Regency, last August. The declaration was attended by the Assistant of Economics and Development, Sigi Regency Regional Secretariat, Iskandar Nongtji, ST, MM, and IPB LPPM team, which consisted of Prof Muladno (Head of SPR IPB University), Dr Chusnul Choliq, MS, MM, and Danang Aria Nugroho, SE (IPB University Community Service Programs Manager).

The LPPM’s Vice Chairman of Community Service, Prof Sugeng Heri Suseno said that SPR’s declaration in Anutapura is one of the events important to improve human resources in animal husbandry. According to him, IPB University is ready to help 24 hours for the farmers who have been inaugurated as the members of SPR.

“We hope that the farmers in SPR can grow their livestock to be productive. IPB University expresses its gratitude to Sigi Pemda, because with this declaration the farmers are now a part of IPB University family,” he said.

Iskandar Nongtji said that Pemda assists and facilitates farmers by donating livestock. This innovation is one of the breakthrough programs of the Pemda, aiming to alleviate poverty in animal husbandry sector, which since 2017 has bestowed social welfare programs to farmers group in the form of 1000 livestocks each year. The livestock consists of 500 cattles, 300 goats, and 200 swines,” he said.

This declaration will hopefully be a steppingstone of the improvement of Sigi Regency’s local farmers. SPR Anutapura adopts the motto “Mosangu Kita Mombangun Kabelota Singgani”, so that the farmers can utilize it as well as possible to gain knowledge about how to raise livestock according to the guidance from the experts.

During the occasion, Pemda of Sigi Regency also acquired financial aid for the disaster struck earlier as much as 50 million rupiah. (Ard)
