IPB University Students Work Together to Carry Out Drainage Treatment in Banten
One of the important infrastructures in Gerendong Village, Koroncong Subdistrict, Pandeglang Regency, Banten Province is the drainage channel. Drainage canals were built with the aim to drain excess water into the river. However, the condition of the drainage canals in the village suffered damage and did not function as they should. Shrubs or grasses around the drainage canal also inhibit the flow of water into the river, causing flooding at some point.
“We, together with the residents, are encouraging a program of care and maintenance of drainage canals. This program is carried out in two villages namely Kampung Kalanganyar Kebon and Kalanganyar Pasir, “said Aristyana Wirya, one of the students participating in the Real Work Lecture on Infrastructure Technology at IPB University. The Infrastructure Technology Community Service Program was attended by nine students of IPB University.
Aris further said that drainage canals are very closely related to roads, so drainage channels are very important in the development of a village.
This program is conducted by IPB University Community Service Technology Infrastructure KKN students in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing of the Republic of Indonesia (PUPR RI). The success of this program is marked by the clearing of 300 meters of drainage channels from 1,250 meters of drainage channels that have been built in both villages. (NR)
