IPB University Holds a National Table Tennis Championship

Table Tennis Student Activity Unit (UKM) of IPB University participated in celebrating the 56th Dies Natalis of IPB University. IPB University held a National Table Tennis Championship called IPB University Open 2019 in IPB University Campus (13-16/9). This year’s championship is the 8th one.

This year, IPB University partnered with the Table Tennis Association STONI and Indonesian Table Tennis United (PTMSI) of West Java Province and PTMSI of Bogor City and Regency. The championship was participated by approximately 750 athletes from various regions in Indonesia. There were 14 categories contested. The competition categories include beginners, juniors, college students, lecturers and education staff, and the platinum category.

“The enthusiasm of the athletes was extraordinary. This could be seen from the beginning of the registration until the event on the first day of the match,” said Anton as the Chairperson of IPB Open VIII National Table Tennis Championship.

IPB University Open Table Tennis Championship 2019 was opened symbolically by the Vice Rector for Cooperation and Information Systems, Prof. Dodik Ridho Nurrochmat.

Prof Dodik hoped that through this table tennis championship there would be great athletes who were superior in a match. Hopefully Indonesia could repeat its history of national table tennis heyday.

IPB University will try to expand the reach of the participants to become even broader. Through this table tennis championship, it is expected to help advance the achievements of table tennis players in the country.

“Congratulations to IPB University which has consistently held this table tennis championship. The contested categories are also increasing every year. Happy competing for the athletes, please uphold sportsmanship and sports spirit,” said Dede who is a representative of STONI.

The Chairman of PTMSI Bogor City, Dodi Nurdin was also very supportive of this event and hoped that it could continue and even extend to the Southeast Asian level.
