Hundreds of High School Students Learn Physics Concepts and Their Implementation in IPB University 2019 Physics Expo
The festivity of 2019 Physics Expo was really felt by high school students who participated. The event was held by IPB University Physics Student Association at September 6th-8th 2019. The event was attended by more than 200 participants from various schools in Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi, West Java (Bodetabek-Jabar) areas. The event was packed with various activities, including physics competitions and non-competitive activities, making the event unique to other expos, such as Jawara Fisika, Robotic Challenge, Physic Project, and Physic Camp.
Ari Setiawan, the Chairman of Physics Expo, told that Physics Expo is an exhibition of physics instruments which is set up to showcase the beauty of physics phenomenon. “We hope that Physics Expo will motivate high school students to learn about physics concepts and their implementation,” said Ari.
One of the competitions in Physics Expo which attracted many participants was Robotic Challenge. Robotic Challenge aims to introduce and build a passion in robotics and instruments to high school students. The sub-events of this branch are robotics workshop and Line Follower robotic competition with varying and challenges.
“Physics Expo is expected to be a program that can improve participants’ understanding about physics as the basis of science and technology development. Besides that, this event improves the quality and contribution of Physics Student Association (Himafi) as a professional association. Moreover, this event serves its purpose as a branding medium for Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) IPB University to be one of the best departments in Indonesia.
