Various efforts to overcome waste problems continue to be made. One of them is Dare to Fight Trash / Berani Atasi Sampah (Berantas) which was initiated by the Ministry of Environment, Student Executive Board (BEM) of Student Family (KM) of IPB University.

By collaborating with Expo Exforest held by Tree Grower Community (Silvicultural Profession Student Association, Faculty of Forestry, IPB University), Berantas succeeded in mobilizing 1,500 students to deposit their inorganic waste into the trash deposit booth at the Faculty of Human Ecology (Fema) Corridor, IPB Dramaga Campus in Bogor (20-22/8). In this Berantas program, every student who deposits inorganic waste gets attractive merchandise in the form of tumbler bottles, stainless steel straws and totebags.

"Berantas aims to socialize the green lifestyle movement to IPB University community. We know that waste at IPB University, especially plastic, is getting out of control. Besides that, we want to act together for the establishment of IPB University as a green campus," said Head of Berantas, Hanif Kusuma.

According to Hanif, inorganic waste collected will be distributed to the Garbage Bank in Bogor. In addition, there are several student organizations that will reuse plastic waste to create vertical parks. (Aditya / Zul / zsp)
