New Students of IPB University Vocational School Set World Records

New students of the Vocational School (SV) of IPB University successfully broke the Record Holders Republic (RHR) record for Configuring Mosaics with the Most Used Plastic Bottles and Configuring Formations with the Most Totebag Media. This record breaking was done during the Andamaru Jayantara 56 New Student Campus Introduction Period (MPKMB) which involved 2,200 new students in Bogor (9/8).

RHR Adjudicator, Boris Ramadeni, SV student succeeded in making 56 formations that formed a certain pattern and successfully carried out within one minute and fifteen seconds. This record beat last year's achievements which took four minutes and twenty seconds.

"Thank God, today the new students of SV-IPB with the guidance of their seniors managed to break the world record. Thanks to BEM SV-IPB, MPKMB Committee and all freshmen of Batch 56, we are all proud of you. You are all exceptional in promoting the spirit of vocationalism in IPB and throughout the archipelago, "said the statement of the Dean of the Vocational School of IPB University, Dr. Ir Arief Daryanto after the award given by the RHR.

Dr. Ir Arief Daryanto added that he welcomed the acquisition of the two world record awards with the theme of the participation of young people in achieving sustainable development.

He hoped that this kind of event initiated by students aimed at reducing the use of plastic provided real learning for the younger generation. Many movements against plastic waste in the world are initiated by young people. "The youth environmental movement" in various countries has a very large contribution in reducing plastic waste in the world.

Furthermore, the Dean of SV IPB University said that currently Indonesia produces plastic as much as 3.2 million tons of plastic waste. Around 1.29 million tons are dumped in the ocean. A study conducted by the University of Georgia places Indonesia as the second largest contributor of plastic waste disposed to the sea every year throughout the world.

The Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of the Vocational School, Dr. Bagus P Purwanto stated, "This is an extraordinary achievement. In the future, I hope that more and more achievements can be obtained by Vocational School students and I congratulate all new students, the committee and all those who succeed in this activity ".

RHR is a world record institution that aims to standardize, authenticate, register, and regulate official world records with regard to time, distance, and amount. The event to break the RHR record was attended by Dr. Ir Daisy Tambajong, MP as Chair of the SV Academic Senate, Dr. dr Aryani Sismin Satyaningtijas, MSc, as Chair of the SV Discipline and Student Affairs Commission, Boris Ramadeni as RHR Adjudicator.

In the activity of breaking the RHR Record this was also held the Joint National Achievement Student Achievement Program of the 2019 Diploma Program Safhira Alfarisi, Parade and Introduction of Student Organizations at SV IPB University, a flashyel competition by each group of new students, gymnastics with Hi-Lo and the most interesting attention was the appearance of the Rector of IPB University band.
