IPB University welcomed the offer of cooperation with the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI). The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Rector of IPB University, Dr. Arif Satria and Secretary General of the Indonesian Parliament, Ir Indra Iskandar, M.Sc in Building C of the School of Business, IPB University, Bogor (9/8).

The signing of this memorandum of understanding was witnessed by representatives of members of the Indonesian Parliament, Vice Rector of IPB University, Chair of IPB University Academic Senate, Chair of the IPB University Business School Study Program, lecturers, alumni, and student representatives.

In his remarks, Dr. Arif said that the collaboration between IPB University and the Republic of Indonesia DPR had been going on for a long time. IPB University also cooperates with other legislative institutions. As an educational institution, IPB University can contribute greatly to preparing academic texts. IPB University is often involved in agriculture widely, such as plantations, fisheries, forestry and so on.

"This collaboration is needed to facilitate IPB University providing input related to important issues that affect policy making, especially related to agriculture," he said.

Meanwhile Ir. Indra explained that the Indonesian Parliament had collaborated with more than 42 universities in Indonesia. The current draft bill has not been felt by the people due to various factors. IPB University is strong in agriculture so it is expected to be more strategic with economic issues, especially about Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), creative economy and so on. The Republic of Indonesia House of Representatives will cooperate with the School of Business IPB University in the near future.

The event continued with a National Seminar on "Resource Governance for Future Agriculture". The event was attended by guest speakers Edhy Prabowo, MM, MBA as Chair of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Prof. Dr. Ir M. Syamsul Maarif, M.Eng, Dipl.Ing, DEA as professors of the IPB University Business School and Prof. Dr. Ir. Akhmad Fauzi Syam, M.Sc as professor of the Faculty of Economics and Management of IPB University.

Edhy explained the challenges facing the development of the agricultural sector were structural obstacles, population growth and lack of agricultural extension. The agricultural system in Indonesia has begun to transform, so that IPB University is able to be optimal in agriculture.

Prof. Syamsul described the future of agricultural governance in Industry 4.0. Industrial agriculture 4.0 is efficient, environmentally friendly and has increased productivity. In the era of agricultural governance 4.0 changes are needed. The governance development strategy in the form of unclear and undirected environmental changes, organizational transformation, and business performance improvement.

Meanwhile Prof. Akhmad Fauzi explained the importance of resource governance in managing natural resource governance (SDA) in Indonesia. The dependency of natural resources in Indonesia is high but is not reflected in the prosperity of the people, especially in the eastern part. One alternative to the problem of natural resources is investment in mining products in the agricultural sector. (NR)
