Competition in looking for college graduate jobs is getting tougher.  Undergraduate graduates need to know preparation for the world of work.

Directorate of Student Affairs and Career Development, IPB University held the "Simmulation Applying Job in Multinational Companies" event in Room A1 of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences of IPB University (10/8). The event was divided into two, namely workshops and job interview simulations.

This activity was attended by two speakers, namely Officer Aria Saputra as Regional Trade Marketing Manager of PT.  Reckitt Bengkiser Indonesia and Aditiyo Indrasanto, SE, MM as the founder and owner of www.careerguideindonesia.com.  The officer is a graduate of IPB University class 42.

In the workshop session, the Officer said that the company needed people to fulfill the work given.  Job applicants instead focus on their needs.  Interview preparation requires features, track records and recommendations.  The 'sell yourself' technique is recommended at interviews and requires preparation in the form of research.  The targeted job sometimes requires an appropriate major, but it is adjusted to the job desk.

Aditiyo explained that work opportunities would be greater if trying to work as much as possible.  Interviews require preparation of abilities, expertise and negotiation.  Not nervous, including the main requirements needed to face interviews and public speaking.  The career path of a multinational company requires expansion of knowledge and skills, roles, responsibilities, and work dynamics.

"People who explore passion always pursue what they want.  Not everyone knows passion from the start.  Having other skills outside of the knowledge gained during college is also important.  Adaptation ability is also prioritized to achieve career success, "Aditiyo added.

The event continued with training and simulation of direct interviews by the speakers.  The training is divided into two sessions.  The training consists of explaining the interview process at multinational companies as well as tips that must be done and which are avoided when interviewing at multinational companies.

"It is unfortunate if students have good skills but do not have good communication or promotion skills.  Students must have better skills nowadays.  There needs to be preparation to go through all the search processes including applying for a job, "explained Handian Purwawangsa S. Hut, MSi, Head of the Career Development Sub Directorate, the Directorate of Student Affairs and Career Development of IPB University when giving a speech.  (Ghinaa / Zul)
