Prof. Tridoyo Kusumastanto Elected as Chair of the IPB University MWA for the Period 2019-2024
The Election Chair of the IPB University Board of Trustees (MWA) for the period 2019-2024 chose Prof. Tridoyo Kusumastanto, Permanent Professor of the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) as chairman. The plenary session of the MWA and the handover of positions were held at IPB International Convention Center (IICC), Bogor (17/7). In carrying out their duties for the next five years, Prof. Tridoyo will be assisted by Ir Muhammad Nadjikh as vice chairman and Prof. Dr. Bambang Purwantara as secretary.
A total of 15 of the 17 members of the MWA from 2019-2024 attended this event, namely representatives from the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti), Rector of IPB University Dr. Arif Satria, Prof. Dr. Tridoyo Kusumastanto (from the Academic Senate), Prof. Dr. Bambang Purwantara (from the Academic Senate elements), Prof. Dr. Dietriech G. Bengen (from the Academic Senate element), Prof. Dr. Evy Damayanthi (from the Academic Senate element), Prof. Dr. Indra Jaya (from the Academic Senate element), Prof. Dr. Purwiyatno Hariyadi (from the Senate element Academic), Prof. Dr. Slamet Susanto (from the Academic Senate), Prof. Dr. Yonny Koesmaryono (from the Academic Senate element), Sofyan, S.Si., M.Sc. (from the elements of the Education Personnel), Muhammad Nurdiyansyah (from the student element), Ir R Fathan Kamil (from the Alumni element), Ir Sunarso, M.Sc. (from the elements of the Community) and Ir Muhammad Nadjikh (from the elements of the Community). Two members not present were Ridwan Kamil, ST, MUD (from the community elements) and Dr. Agus Joko Pramono (from the community elements).
In the process of handover of the position, the previous Chairman of the MWA, Prof. MA Chozin said that the five-year period of management of the IPB University MWA for the 2014-2019 period had been passed well. Various work programs and activities have been implemented well even though they have not been perfect in carrying out institute activities. Various steps of improvement and change have been taken and carried out carefully, in the hope of bringing IPB University towards a better and more appropriate change in the mandate contained in Government Regulation Number 66 of 2013 concerning the Statute of the Bogor Agricultural Institute.
"The policies taken by the IPB University MWA are always endeavored to accommodate the wishes of stakeholders in the framework of more transparent and accountable management of the institute," he said.
Prof. Chozin considers that currently IPB University has experienced significant progress. Especially in terms of improving the quality of education, research and innovation, community service, and management of assets. In addition, there is also an increase in IPB University's business development in 2019 and IPB University's entry into the 601-650 QS World University Rankings and number 130 on the Asian Ranking. “IPB University has also received an award for implementing the statute," he said.
On this occasion, Prof. Tridoyo explained that in the future, IPB University must be able to become a pillar of the moral strength of the nation and state of Indonesia. In addition, with rapid changes, leadership is needed that can strengthen human resources. IPB University must also be able to create science and technology that is beneficial to rural communities because this is the prosperity.
Meanwhile, Chair of the Academic Senate, Prof. Dr. Dodi Nandika said that the members of the IPB University MWA for the period 2019-2024 were very credible and had very broad competencies and partnership networks.
"If in football we know the term ‘elevens’, then this period of IPB University MWA is ‘seventeens’ which God willing is very strong and capable needed by IPB University in reaching its vision. That is to become a research-based university and leading in innovation for national independence towards a Techno-Socio Entrepreneurial-University that excels at the global level in the fields of agriculture, marine and tropical biosciences. So, even though the challenges and homework are still quite a lot, including in controlling and increasing asset value, as well as improving financial health, but with strong leadership and a clear vision from the Rector, as well as the highly credible navigation, direction and assistance of the current MWA , The Senate of IPB University believes that we can accelerate into higher education that is more dignified, prominent and full of problems. Not only as a producer of science and technology and innovation to improve the welfare and competitiveness of the nation, but also as a seed for the noble values of humanity, as well as strengthening four pillars of nationality, namely: Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the Republic of Indonesia, and Unity in Diversity," he said.
The Rector of IPB University, Dr. Arif Satria hoped that with the election of Prof. Tridoyo, MWA could become a Rector partner, a strategic partner and critical in overseeing the work of the chancellor. Together with the MWA, the Chancellor sets the IPB University policy. "If the MWA and the rector share the same vision, it will be easy for IPB University to realize the vision of Technosocio Entrepreneurial University," he said. (RYS)
