Adrian, a student of the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, IPB University won 2nd place at the National Short Story Writing Competition with the theme "Struggle for Dreams". This competition was a series of Spectacular Young Leaders event that organized not only short story writing competition, but also essay writing competition. This competition was intended for national level students.
"I can hardly believe that I won this competition because it was my first time participating in a short story writing competition. Alhamdulillah, I am happy and grateful because I can use the prize for field lectures of my academic activities," explained Adrian.
Adrian said, besides participating in the short story competition, he also submitted his work to take part in the essay competition. However, his luck was in the short story competition. "With this experience, I I am excited to make more writing. I also learned that the key is willingness," he added.
In this short story competition, Adrian raised a story about the struggle of coastal children enriched with the language and culture of Minang. The story was a combination of his personal story and fiction. "As the plot, I was inspired by the story of the prophet Moses who told Khidir about the baby in the womb who asked the angel, for what he was created. That is there will be many conversations containing questions in this story," said Adrian.
He has been interested in his hobby in writing since he was still a student in Madrasah Tsanawiyyah (MTs), but he was not brave enough to take part in the competitions before. He just learned to improve his writing skill while studying.
"In addition, i am also keen to enjoy words and to participate in various writing competitions, in order to increase my pocket money," he concluded. (SM/RIS/zsp)
