Student Creativity Test at the Development Communication Festival
At present, Indonesia faces a digital era that makes it easier for people to obtain information. However, if the development of the digital era is not balanced with good communication skills, the information obtained will be difficult to use properly. Therefore, it is important to hone the communication skills by pouring ideas of creativity directly.
To answer that need, the Department of Science Communication and Community Development (SKPM) of IPB University held the Development Communication Festival. The event took place at Graha Widya Wisuda (GWW), IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor (4/5). This program with the concept of festival carried the theme “Digitization of Rural Entrepreneurship” which aimed to hone creativity and application of the theory that has been obtained by the students of SKPM Department such as the Basics of Communication (Daskom), Business Communication (Kombis), Mass Communication (Komas), and Broadcast Media (Medis). The event was also attended by the Chancellor of IPB namely Dr. Arif Satria, Chairperson of the SKPM Department Dr.Ir Arya Hadi Dharmawan, and lecturers.
“This festival involves students who take Daskom course by presenting performances or theater, students with Kombis course by setting up typical product stands, students with Komas course by creating newsletters, and students with Medis course by making public service advertisements related to the theme of the event,” said Chairperson of the Committees, Asri Sulistiawati, S.KPm, M.Sc.
According to Dr. Arya Hadi, this activity was in line with the direction of the SKPM curriculum which is heading towards the 2020 curriculum. This curriculum prioritizes digital communication, therefore SKPM students must have good competence through existing communication courses. In line with Dr. Arya, Chancellor of IPB, Dr. Arif Satria said that this kind of event was important for a new era faced by young people in the field of communication.
“By participating in this activity, students can have 3C that are important for a new era, namely communication skill, collaboration skill which is also the main aspect for development, and creativity,” added Dr. Arif Satria. (NIN/Zul/ZSP
