Sharing Happiness, IPB Alumni Organization Had Iftar with Orphans
Alumni Organization of IPB University (HA IPB) shared their happiness with orphans and children in poverty. The alumni had an iftar together with them to strengthen the bond between fellow Muslims.
The event was held in IPB Convention Center, Bogor, Saturday (18/5). The alumni sat along a number of orphans. The convener of this event, Metia Metriva, said that 400 children were present in this event.
"According to the event's title, Sharing Happiness, we want these children to be able to have a joyful moment with us. So, during the event, they were free to sit anywhere. The children may interact with the Rector. The same rule also applied to alumni. We were all the same there," said Metia. Metia said that the event was different than the previous years'. The previous years' events were done in a mosque, while this year's was intentionally held in campus.
"The committees are from IPB Alumni Organization and this is an annual event. What's special in this year's event is that the event was not symbolically held in mosque. During previous years' events, we deliver the food and the donations to their dormitory or orphanage. This year, we invite them in," she said.
IPB Rector, Dr. Arif Satria appreciates the program done by the alumni, which is held annually during the Ramadhan month. Dr. Arif hopes that this event will unite the alumni to help their surroundings. "The alumni network is more massive in local scale, of course the impacts will be greater," said Dr. Arif.
During the occasion, The Chairman of Central Council (DPP) of IPB Alumni Organization, Fathan Kamil said that DPP HA IPB alongside the General Directorate of Land Transportation, Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) plan to send 550 students to visit their hometowns in the light of Ramadhan to cities in Java and Sumatra. "The sending-off will be held on May 31st 2019 in Baranangsiang Campus, with destinations in Java and Sumatra islands," said the Chairman of DPP HA IPB, Fathan Kamil. (Ard)
